FAQs Archive - Anchor Charter Boats

Q: Do bird watching and whale watching cost the same as fishing trips?

No. Whale watching is a 2-hour trip at $50, and bird watching trips run $125 for a half day or $185 for a full day through our Noyo Pelagics partnership, both separate from our fishing and crabbing rates.

Q: Can I book a private charter, or is it a shared trip?

Both options are available. We run open boat trips where you can book individual seats, as well as private charters for your group.

Q: Are tips included in the price?

No, gratuity for the crew isn't included in the listed price and is left to your discretion.

Q: Is there a discount for paying in cash?

The $5 gear rental fee is waived when you pay for your trip in cash.

Q: What's included in the trip price?

The base price covers your seat on the boat. Depending on the trip, extras like gear rental, filleting, crab cooking, tips, and lost gear are billed separately.

Q: Are there any booking fees?

No. We don't charge any booking fees, the price you see for your trip is the price you pay, plus any optional extras like gear rental or filleting.

Q: What does "USCG licensed to 100 miles" mean?

It means the Coast Guard has certified the Kraken to safely carry passengers as far as 100 nautical miles offshore, well beyond what's needed for our local trips, but it reflects the vessel's safety and equipment standards.
